Daniel Langlois was a Canadian animation pioneer who developed computer-generated 3D human emotion and visual effects. In the early 1980s, his Montreal-based company Softimage earned him international recognition and attention from giants in Hollywood and Silicon Valley.

On December 1, 2023 he and his partner, Dominique Marchand were found dead less than 2 kilometres from Coulibri Ridge, the luxury eco resort they built on the Caribbean island of Dominica.
