For this video, I decided to try a different approach. I decided to combine a retrospective and an analysis in one video. Heathers takes the feelings almost all of us go through in high school and amplifies them to almost psychotic proportions. But this is why the film is so appealing. Screenwriter Daniel Waters bitterly and hilariously uses satire to exaggerate the dramas of teen life - including sexuality, bulimia, self esteem issues, social status, and drug use. While intertwining these aspects of teenage life, the central subject of Heathers is teenage suicide. The film seems not to look down on suicide, but in actuality, the film is an expert work of sarcastic satire against suicide.
