Here’s a video on how I repair my
K9-306 flexshaft cable. To do this, you need silver solder, silver flux, map gas, and a grinder. You don’t really need a pair of vise like I have but it makes it easier.
Basically you start by cutting back the sheathing until you hit good cable. Then I put it in a vise to secure it. Then I clean the cable with Tub O Towels. Then I use silver flux generously in the area I’m about to solder. Then I heat up the area with map gas until it’s glowing red. Then I apply the silver solder. I try and use enough so it starts coming out of the bottom of the cable. Let it cool for a few minutes then cut it in the middle of the solder with a grinder and then grind away any excess solder so you can slide the chains back on. If you don’t get enough solder all the way through, you can tip the cable up and reheat it and add more solder
