A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court on 26 April 2024 dismissed all pleas seeking 100% verification of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips. The court however directed the Election Commission of India to "seal and store" the Symbol Loading Units (SLUs) till 45 days after the day of result declaration. The candidates can also seek matching of the VVPATs till 7 days after the result declaration.
