Toyota is the world's largest automaker, and they recently made some bold claims about solid-state battery tech. But have they actually made advancements in solid state batteries?

Toyota has been criticized for moving too cautiously into the electric vehicle market. While they’ve made some exciting announcements about hydrogen and battery technology recently, Toyota still has not gone full throttle in any particular direction. Many critics say that they have been painfully slow to launch new EV models.

In an exciting new development that is bound to have a huge impact on the industry, Toyota is now set to launch a groundbreaking battery technology with improvements in range, safety, and charging time that are almost too good to be true.

Solid state batteries are superior to lithium ion batteries in several ways. They're smaller, hold more energy by volume, give electric vehicles a longer range, and can be safer, as well. But they've also been quite expensive to produce.

Toyota claims that they will be able to reduce the cost of producing both solid-state batteries and lithium-ion batteries by up to 50% in the next year or two!

What do you think this means for the future of EVs? Will Toyota finally get us over the hurdle of range anxiety, despite being soft on EV plans for the last several years? Let us know in the comments section below.
