When Graeme Souness signed a new left winger from Tromso in August 2004, fans of Blackburn Rovers had little idea of what to expect from the man dubbed the 'Norwegian David Beckham'.

Morten Gamst Pedersen arrived at Rovers as a relatively unknown 22 year old left sided player who had a big task immediately before him. That was, to adequately replace the dynamic Damien Duff, who had left Rovers to sign for Chelsea the previous summer.

Morten made his Rovers debut in a 1-1 draw against Man United in late August 2004, but did little to impress. First team opportunities were limited for Pedersen under Souness as he needed time to adjust to English Football.

It was the appointment of Mark Hughes as the new Rovers manager midway through September 2004 which really kick started Pedersen's career as a Rovers player however, as the Norwegian began to see regular first team football. In fact, Morten scored his first goal for Rovers in a League Cup tie against Bournemouth in Mark Hughes' second game in charge.

Pedersen would go on to play a important role in his first season at the club by scoring 8 goals in all competitions. Crucially, he scored key goals in victories against Southampton and Crystal Palace, wins which took Rovers away from relegation danger. Furthermore, Morten also scored a stunning winner against arch rivals, Burnley, in an FA Cup 5th Round replay in March 2005 at Ewood Park. A goal which cements Morten's place in Blackburn Rovers history.

The following season, 2005/06, saw Pedersen put together a stunning collection of goals. Famously, Pedersen scored a brace at Old Trafford to earn Rovers a first win at the Stadium for 43 years. He would go on to score another rocket against United in the League Cup at Ewood Park and prove to be a thorn in their side for years to come. It says a lot about the impression Pedersen made not just on Rovers fans, but football fans in general, that United fans and other neutrals still respect Pedersen and his Premier League exploits to this day. A quick search online shows many nostalgic Premier League fans referring to Morten Gamst Pedersen as a 'baller that the streets will never forget'.

Known for his wicked left foot, his set piece delivery, his assists and the goals he scored, Morten Gamst Pedersen goes down not just as a Rovers favourite, but also a Premier League favourite.

From his stunning volleys against Fulham and Wigan, to his array of free kick goals, to his headed goals, this video has them all.

Morten reluctantly left Rovers on a free transfer in August 2013 after nine years at the club, as the club tried to lower its wage bill. He arrived as a young man aged 22, but left as a true Rovers fan, aged 31. In interviews since, Morten has spoken about how much he enjoyed playing for Rovers and what the club means to him. It is fair to say Morten won't forget his time at Rovers, and the Rovers fans won't forget him.

Morten, thanks for the memories.
