š In todays review we check out the all new 2022 Ford Explorer! What's special about this trim level is that Ford is finally making a trim designed for the outdoor enthusiast! This is the Timberline edition and it offers more ground clearance, better approach and departure and even has full time four wheel drive with drive modes! The exterior on this 2022 Ford Explorer isn't much different from the other trims, biggest difference is the orange strip and tow hooks in the front! The exterior has a really nice design and this design has been out for a few years now for this unibody Explorer! The offroad focused tires are much beefier than the stock tires offered on other trims and with the white paint and black wheels, you can definitely tell this is different! The exterior has a great shape and being focused for going off the pavement, this 2022 Ford Explorer has a 360 camera system!
The interior on this Ford Explorer Timberline has nice cloth seats with stitching to match the orange exterior. This is even a six seater and the third row seating is actually functional for adults if needed! The amount of storage is also sufficient and this SUV can tow! If you want a great daily driver that's practical, can tow and now has some offroad characteristics to take this camping, hiking or wherever the day takes you, this is a great new trim level from Ford!
As far as technology goes, the 3D camera system is about the extent along with the adaptive cruise! This particular model had the Sync 3 infotainment system which is a little outdated now, so it would be nice to see a larger screen option for this Explorer!
Driving the new 2022 Ford Explorer was a lot of fun! This model had the 2.3L ecoboost 4 cylinder, so not exactly quick, but it will get up and move and it's impressive to see the towing rating on a smaller engine! But it drives smooth, nice and quiet and comfortable and plenty of driving modes to use depending on where you take this!
The new 2022 Ford Explorer is aimed at Subaru for the outdoor enthusiasts looking to take their day off the pavement! Over the last few years, a huge increase in Explorer owners have been taking them off the pavement, so it's awesome to see Ford answering that demand and offering a solution!
