SICILY in ITALY is the perfect destination for your next EV ROAD TRIP. In this video we share all our first hand expiriences about traveling Sicily with an electric vehicle. We travel with a TESLA MODEL Y.
We show you the route we took, where we charged, and the absolute must-see highlights there.

EV Road Trip: Sicily Roundtrip
There are several options to get to Sicily. You can take the ferry from Genoa to Palermo, or you can do what we did – drive through the entire length of Italy to the short ferry ride from Villa San Giovanni to Messina on the east coast of Sicily. Find out more about how to master this route on our video "From Zurich to Sicily".
When it comes to charging, there are enough Tesla Superchargers along the route, even for non-Tesla EVs.

CHARGING:
While charging infrastructure thins out in southern Italy, the route is still manageable with an electric car. And a bit of planning is essential for any electric road trip.
Tesla has two TESLA SUPERCHARGERS in Sicily and they are open to all brands, in CATANIA and in PALERMO.
They're cheaper than local public charging stations, but you won't get far with them alone. Everywhere else, you'll need to charge on Italian charging stations.
We've had great experiences with the Italian provider ENEL X. The charging stations almost always worked, but ok they’re mostly not the fastest. But their locations are good, allowing you to charge while exploring the city.

For more details on how to use the Enel X app, check out our video "Charging in Italy."
And good to know: We could also use the app to start charging stations from other providers.
The Highlights include:
TAORMINA, where you most likely won't be alone, but the coast with Isola Bella is simply dreamy.
An EV trip to the MOUNT ETNA VOLCANO is absolutely spectacular,
we even found a charging station at the parking lot on Vulcano mount Etna.
Moving on to SIRACUSA with its picturesque old town and the world's best lemons.
A must-visit are the Baroque cities of RAGUSA and NOTO, both incredibly charming. Ragusa even has a 50kw charging station right on the old town.
And for all you sweet tooths out there,
In Agrigento's VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES, you'll find Greek temples in a beautiful setting.
And in Agrigento, you'll also discover the stunning coast with white cliffs, SCALA DEI TURCHI.
A must is the Salt Route from Marsala to Trapani, especially beautiful in the evening when the salt fields shimmer pink. Make sure to head from Marsala towards the north, so you are driving right along the coast with a view of the salt fields.
Next highlight is ERICE, a medieval mountain village with a castle and a breathtaking view of the surroundings. And here, you’ll find the charging station with the best view ever. Super convenient – here you can easily charge while exploring Erice.
And for all you beach lovers, the area around SAN VITO LO CAPO has the most beautiful beaches in Sicily with Caribbean-colored waters.
Our favorite beaches here are Santa Margherita beach and Guidaloca Beach. And the coast around SCOPELLO is simply a dream!
What is defenetly a must in Sicily is PALERMO – lively, chaotic, and incredibly captivating. Don't miss the cheerful Ballaro market.
CEFALÙ is another beautiful place, the perfect combination of a charming town and beach.
