👋🏼 Hello! Today, Jiji goes to Kamakura, Japan!

We started our walk from Hase Station and took a train to Inamuragasaki Park where we caught the sunset. It was a very windy afternoon and we can visibly see the wave constantly crashing, and we also got lucky to get a clear glimpse of Mount Fuji. The scenery was so beautiful, as if life imitates art. It reminds us of the famous ukiyo-e art by Hokusai: The Great Wave Off Kanagawa.

Jiji also took some photos along this walk that we shared at the end of the video. So be sure to check those out 😄

📍 KAMAKURA, Japan is a small coastal city in Kanagawa Prefecture, less than an hour south of Tokyo. Known as the "Kyoto of Eastern Japan," Kamakura is steeped in history and was once the political center of Japan during the late 12th century. It was established as the seat of the Kamakura Shogunate by Minamoto Yoritomo and continued to be a significant political hub even after the decline of the Kamakura government, until it eventually lost its prominence to other cities.

Today, Kamakura is a beloved tourist destination, offering a rich tapestry of cultural heritage and natural beauty. Visitors can explore numerous temples, shrines, and historical monuments. Some of the top attractions include the Great Buddha, a large bronze statue; Hasedera Temple, known for its views over Kamakura; and Hokokuji Temple, famous for its small bamboo grove.

In addition to its historical sites, Kamakura also boasts sand beaches that draw crowds in the summer, and there are various hiking trails in the wooded hills for nature enthusiasts. The city seamlessly blends its historical significance with the natural charm of its mountains and sea, making it a unique and enchanting place to visit.
