Today, I’m going to tell you the story of a small but brave Italian family hatchback Fiat Ritmo (also known as Fiat Strada in the UK and some other countries) which was produced from 1978 to 1988.
The same car was also manufactured under the names SEAT Ritmo and SEAT Ronda in Spain.
It was the first Italian car with bumpers integrated into the body of the car. It looked very modern and unusual – probably, too much for its customers. But it got its fans.
Ritmo / Strada had several “hot” Abarth versions with 105, 125, and 130 HP. And they were really cool. Despite the absence of fuel injection, they were faster and more powerful than the famous Volkswagen Golf GTi of the same time.
Ritmo had some issues with the quality and rust. But the handling and dynamics of the “hot” versions were great and this makes these cars really interesting for car enthusiasts today.
