In today’s episode, we’re going to review the G Series 911, built from 1974-1989. Many enthusiasts will say with a strong passion that the classic air-cooled 911s are the epitome of a true sports car. For many people, they may not be the fastest, most attractive, or even reliable, but they provide a holistic driving experience that car lovers clamor over.

The model pictured here is a 911sc of 1978 vintage. When first introduced as a 1978 model, the 911sc sported a body that was wider than the previous 1974-1977 models.

At the front, the major design elements include fenders that are rounded and maintain their shape from the edge of the front windshield to the headlight area. The headlights are round, sealed-beam units with sugar scoop trim rings. Just below the bumper, you’ll notice the very 80s square fog lights. The impact bumpers are a notable feature that instantaneously defines the g series models.

Due to the safety regulations in the USA, regulators demanded that all new cars withstand a collision at 5 mph without damage. The front hood slopes down dramatically to meet the plastic rubber strip on the edge of the front bumper.

At the side, you’ll immediately notice the teardrop-shaped greenhouse, that gently curves to meet the wide rear fenders that are truly a wonderful design. Wide and imposing, they present a visual excellence that is seldom seen in the car world.

The rear quarter panel is so delicious that you could just stare at the shape for hours. This Porsche sports the optional 16 inch Fuchs wheels with black centers sporting 205/55 front and 225/50 rear tires.

The rear end is dominated by the sloping rear window, 5mph bumperettes installed between the license plate, and engine lid cover with a heat extraction grill. In between the tail lights sits a reflector sporting the Porsche brand name.
