Across Nairobi, residents and volunteers combed through the wreckage left by the floods, desperately searching for loved ones still missing. The rains have displaced over 20,000 households so far, with at least 45 people killed, according to government figures.

But for survivors like Collins Obondo, 38, already mourning lost family members, the damage has been immense. "I have lost five relatives. My mother, my cousin, my two nephews and a neighbour who came to seek refuge here," he said, clutching tattered remnants of his mother's belongings including keys and a handbag.

As the floodwaters slowly recede, more victims are expected to be found, said Peter Jwang, a local community leader. "We are expecting more bodies because yesterday with the flood, we couldn't manage to come to this place," he said.
