My blacksmith husband made a homemade die to make coins with to use for medieval reenactment. To make a coin die, my husband pounds the image in with punches. Follow along as he shows step by step on how he punches the pattern into the die.

Once the coin dies have been made, he sets one die on the bottom side, puts a blank coin in the middle, and puts the other coin die on the top side. Once this is set up, he takes a hammer and beats the impression into the coin. Voilà, a coin has been made!
