I think any barista, whether home or professional, would hate to be given the bad news that you might never experience the gorgeous tastes of coffee ever again. It would be hard enough not enjoying coffee like this anymore, but what if your entire career had been built around the coffee industry and being a tasting professional was all you had known?

For Angus Mackie, this was all too real and right in the middle of his rise through the ranks of the coffee industry, he was hit with some terrible news that would define his pathway forward. Could he stay as a coffee professional or would he have to completely give up?

Well, I don't want to give away the whole story before you've watched this video, but suffice to say that we owe Angus a great deal of thanks for what he has done for the future of coffee! Not only did he persevere through all the horrible pain and suffering, but on the other side of it all, he discovered a way to be more appreciative of coffee after the extraction.

He has not only overcome the curveballs that life threw at him, but he has always used the tragedy to further his understanding of coffee and invent something revolutionary.

I hope you enjoy this interview and tale of adversity in the face of hopelessness and hopefully, you're inspired as much as I am to keep pushing coffee further and further.

As Always, Enjoy your brew!

I am super passionate about coffee and educating people on all aspects of this amazing drink. I love bringing the stories back from the other side of the world about how they grow and process the coffee differently on each farm, in each region, and in each country. I also love helping baristas around the world make better coffee for themselves, whether they're at home, professional, competitors and or even just venturing out into the wide world of coffee.
