U.S. President Joe Biden said Monday, during a visit to Kentucky, which was devastated by storms that resulted in the worst flooding in the state’s history, that all Americans are “obligated” to help those impacted by the storms.

“We’re staying until everybody’s back to where they were,” he said, calling the devastation in Kentucky an “American problem.”

Biden said the state and federal governments would also work to improve the community as they replace infrastructure. As an example, he said crews could lay a new line for internet connection at the same time as replacing the damaged water line.

“The bad news for you is, I’m coming back because I want to see it,” he joked while wrapping up his remarks.
