At the time of the Napoleonic Wars the British army was going through an amazing transformation with intense training and discipline, creating a powerful and professional force. Structural training and logistical reforms brought in by Prince Frederick the Duke of York in the late 1790s created a highly trained army with a professional officer core, who drilled their men into an effective fighting force.
