Tesla is known for doing things differently to anyone else in the motor industry. While this means the company has really pushed the boundaries of what's possible, some decisions are simply wrong.

The biggest flaw and the bane of our lives is the transfer of ownership process. The Tesla app is crucial to the overall experience as it not only improves convenience but also enables the phone to become the key for the vehicle and it's the only way of getting in touch with Tesla in case the vehicle requires any repairs.

However, if the previous owner does not remove the car from their account, they still have the ability to see where the vehicle is located, change settings, unlock it, and even drive away!

Worst of all, there is no way for the new owner to remove the previous account until they receive the V5 in the post (as that is the only document Tesla accepts as proof of ownership), which usually takes weeks, making the car and its owner vulnerable in the meantime.

As more and more used Teslas flood the market we think the problem will only become worse, so we really hope Elon listens and comes up with a system to support the used motor traders trying to do the right thing.
