I'm back again with my Scream 4 review based on the slasher rubric that has been used so far to analyze Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997) and Scream 3 (2000).

Scream 4 came out about a decade after the original trilogy had ended because Wes Craven, the studios, and fans believed that there was still a lot of story left to tell. Due to it being a time for remakes and sequels, Scream 4 fit right in but it was their approach to the source material that really helped set them apart from other remakes including A Nightmare on Elm Street, Prom Night, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc.

Starring Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Rory Culkin et al, Scream 4 follows the rules of a requel (remake + sequel) and then goes about setting up a whole new trilogy with a new and returning cast of characters.
