STRATUS DANCE CLUB was San Diego County's premiere, under 21, alcohol-free, dance club located in the Spring Valley/Casa De Oro District, just outside of The City of La Mesa, San Diego County, CA; Club Concept/Owner/General Manager: Sam Barris.

With many features & spotlights on local San Diego news & interest programs, Mr. Barris continued to expose the bright dance lights...onto the dark eye-shadows, of his "STRATUS DANCE CLUB". Some say, that "STRATUS", being one of the few under 21, alcohol-free dance clubs in California, was kin to the very popular "Marilyn's Back Street" of Pasadena, nearby Los Angeles, CA, who's run was from 1979 to 1992.

There's been TOO NUMEROUS TO COUNT website uploads, Facebook pages, blogs, Reddit info & COUNTLESS video uploads, here on You Tube of "STRATUS".

Most of You Tube's footage are multiple clips taken from the original 7-Part video montage, shot directly from the dance floor between 1986 & 87, with what seems to be a pro-video Sony BetaCam & was done so by who's name appears in the final credits:

Still, from the HUGE amount of multiple edits from Ibarra's original footage, little has been made known about her in the STRING OF NUMEROUS re-cuts of the now somewhat "cult following" classic footage, from the dance club's final years of existence; 1986/1987.

This very upload that I edited was inspired by a re-cut from the, "AreSoundsElectrik" channel, that is no longer on You Tube. The musical underscore that "AreSoundsElectrik" used for their video edit, was the cut "FINAL GIRL" (3:41) which was only available as a downloadable bonus feature from the album, "INNERWORLD" (Deluxe Edition) by Canadian duet "ELECTRIC YOUTH", the brainchild partnership of composer/producer/keyboardist Austin Garrick & lead vocalist Bronwyn Griffin, whose compositions are quite kin to classic 80s era tracks from "YAZOO" & the works of multi-instrumentalist/retro-extraordinaire Anthony Gonzalez' "M83".

Featured in the "AreSoundsElectrik" upload, was about three & a half minutes of edited footage from Ibarra's original video roll, which contained two clips of a YOUNG LADY in an elegant long-sleeved blue blouse & golden glittery headdress band, concluding with the same young lady, dressed this time in a red sleeveless dress with a thin head brace consisting of attached red ears/feline devil horns, which were quite popular at the time; even still today in 2024!

In another "STRATUS" clip from a separate uploader, this same very young lady was again featured wearing a dark, v-neck sleeveless dress, with a very unique royal purple headscarf.

THIS VIDEO UPLOAD HERE, features ALL THREE CLIPS, in the ascending order:

• ELEGANT LONG SLEEVED BLUE BLOUSE w/GOLD GLITTERY HEADDRESS.
• DARK V-NECK SLEEVELESS DRESS w/UNIQUE ROYAL PURPLE HEADSCARF.
• RED SLEEVELESS DRESS w/RED EAR-FELINE DEVIL HORN HEAD BRACE.

I was able to obtain the original introduction (by removing the FLASHING FONT) & go directly into the THREE aforementioned pieces.

For the musical underscore, I preserved "ELECTRIC YOUTH'S/FINAL GIRL" cut, but worked for what seemed like HOURS to edit the music piece down to fit the "3-Piece Video" that runs for only 1 MINUTE LONG!

NOTE: Most re-edits use hard "video splices" to move from one clip to another, where I used a much more, appropriate 0.75 second "fade-out/fade-in" effect. Even though this effect may go by quickly & unnoticeable to the average viewer, I believe it BEST compliments her graceful wardrobe transitions. I end with the original credit roll from Ibarra.

From what little information is out there on 'The Internets', I was able to find out, with fair confidence the name of the female "STAR" featured in ALL 3 video sequences: "JEANNE MARIE". However, for her own privacy and anonymity, I will withhold her original maiden last name, which I believe she sustains today; almost 40 years later! With little research (again, done so on our 'world famous Internets'!) the professional vocation & career Miss Jeanne Marie is currently involved in, is quite honorable, humble, gratifying...and most vitally important..."saves preciously", the last days of people's lives.

Miss Jeanne Marie who once gone from a casual weekend, exquisite looking, sophistically dressed, beautiful classy young lady...to a woman that focuses MUCH, MUCH MORE on the "Inside Of One's Soul", as they move from one world, unto the next.
