Oh the Japanese Roleplaying Game. What a roller coaster ride you’ve been these past few decades. Ever since the popularization of the genre since the days of the original Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games, the JRPG just hasn’t died and seemingly won’t die. What might truly be the most interesting about this genre in particular is that in many ways it's evolved and adapted over time, but in some, it’s absolutely identical to the core principles from the 1980’s.
