You can make your own 555 timer with discrete components, using only BJT transistors (one PNP and a bunch of NPN) and some resistors.......okay, and a pair of op-amps or comparators. Listen, a homemade op-amp is not a trivial thing. I absolutely will do it...in the future. For now, this is still an amazing learning experience for a novice like me, especially when one single PNP transistor decides to go rogue.
