It's time for round five of the Caterham Academy and after some disappointing races at Silverstone and Knockhill, is it finally time for our resident driver, Paul Woodman to get a Lovecars podium?

This time, we're at Brands Hatch and with the company of none other than Tiff Needell, Paul started practicing well as the poor weather cleared up and the track dried out. After lap 1, he'd would've qualified pole position, but sadly qualified 6th! Local driver Ian Harris instead managed to get pole! Well done Ian.

The race of course couldn't take part without the help of the Orange Army, the wonderful marshalls, made up of mostly volunteers around the track. Sadly, a week before the Caterham Academy came to Brands Hatch, a marshall named Robert Foote tragically lost his life during a race event. It was an honour to be part of the tribute to Robert and our thoughts go out to his friends and family.

Onto the race, and Paul's frustration was clear as he had a relatively poor start in comparison to his normal demon starts in other races! As our driver tried to make moves on other drivers, it allowed other racers behind him to overtake Paul! Following some good battles, Paul managed to get up into 4th place and things were starting to look up!

Sadly, Paul made an error at Paddock Hill and then another at Graham Hill to try and avoid a collision with another driver, which put Paul back into 14th place. Thankfully no collision this time, though!

Paul was determined to catch back up, and made back a few more places through overtaking, but the collision free race clearly wasn't to be, with a collision with Mark Williams when trying to overtake. Thankfully, the damage was minimal and both drivers could continue after losing a few places - Sorry Mark!

The race ended with 'Fast Freddie' Freddie Chiddicks in 1st place, followed by Geoff Newman in 2nd and another podium for Mark Jones in 3rd. Paul unfortunately had his worst result of the season, finishing in 13th place. Better luck next time Paul!

Paul did manage the 3rd fastest lap overall though! Onto Croft in a few weeks time!
