This week the Senate Economics References Committee delivered its interim report regarding the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

The Committee unanimously smashed ASIC for its 'addiction to secrecy' and its failure to properly engage with the inquiry on a range of matters relating to investigations which have been already been concluded.

Senator Bragg has foreshadowed that ASIC Chairman Longo will be referred to the Senate Privileges Committee for failing to reveal ASIC's secret communications with Parliament that occurred on 27 October 2022 regarding the establishment of the inquiry.

The Committee has called ASIC to appear at the first pubic hearing of the inquiry which will be 2pm, Friday, 23 June 2023 in Parliament House in Canberra.

Adams and North discuss the implications of an unprecedented rough week for ASIC.
