On September 8, 1934, horrified onlookers watched as the smoldering hulk of the Morro Castle ran aground just off the New Jersey coast. All told, 137 people were killed in the tragedy. Today, nearly a century later, the Morro Castle disaster is still shrouded in mystery and controversy.
