It may be a few years old already, but the 2021 Kia Niro is a future-focused SUV and it has just arrived in Australia. It's not all-new, but it's a new SUV for us.

And more than just another small SUV for compact crossover buyers to consider, this is Kia's first play in the hybrid space, while also being the brand's first plug-in hybrid, and it's first full electric car, too.

That's right, the Kia Niro range offers three different powertrains so you can choose which is right for your particular usage case - be it the HEV hybrid, PHEV plug-in hybrid or the EV electric vehicle. It's like the Hyundai Ioniq range, but in a more desired and in-demand small SUV body style.

It has been around for a while on the international market - it originally launched in 2017 - so it is feeling and looking a little old compared to newer models from the brand, but it gives Kia Australia another interesting model in its lineup, while also finally giving the brand some options for customers who are ready to move on from conventional combustion engined cars.
