Store Knutsholstind was back in the day regarded as an unclimbable and unapproachable peak, until it was first summited back in 1875. Today we know it can be summited from the west side without rope, but we wanted to spice it up by climbing its southern ridge.

A challenging, spectacular and enjoyable day along the Knutshols Traverse. We started from Torfinnsbu, ascended to Svartdalsbandet, and further up to Vestre Leirungstind where the challenges kept coming one after the other. The southern ridge of Store Knutsholstind (with a rope), is definitely recommended for those who want to experience a bit of the thrill of heights. Moving along the winding ridge towards Midtre (climbing), followed by Nest-Nørdre and Nørdre (Burchard's Peak).

The journey took us 16 hours and 30 minutes (way too long!) and covered an elevation gain of 2150 meters and a distance of 31.5 kilometers.

Hope you enjoy the video.
