It is said that for the first six or seven years Guru Sahib ji remained in Patna while his father Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji returned from the east and journeyed homewards towards Punjab in early 1668. Early schooling of young Gobind Rai was done at Patna. Guru Sahib Ji’s compositions are mainly written in the literary language of this area. He studied not only the Bihari language but also Sanskrit, Persian and Arabic. Before Guru Sahib Ji left Patna, he was a noted as a great marksman whose arrows never missed their target. Many elderly and saintly people saw in him a great spiritual force and a would-be leader of humanity.
Since his childhood, Guru Gobind was fond of archery. His friends always regarded him as their leader. He had performed many miracles in his childhood. At the age of just three years, Gobind Singh had organised an army of small kids. They practiced the art of warfare amongst themselves.

Impressed by his miracles, many people had become the followers of Gobind Singh. Once, a king named Shivdutt came to see Guru Gobind with his queen. The king was so impressed with Gobind Singh at the first meeting itself that, he began to come daily to have a sight of Guru Gobind Singh.

Similarly,Raja Fateh Singh Maini and his queen who were childless regarded Guru Gobind Singh as their own son. She would look out with longing from her palace balcony at the children playing below. One day, Guru Gobind along with his friends visited their palace. There, he sat in the queen’s lap. “Mata Ji I am hungry” he told the queen. With eyes filled with tears she brought some malai (milk pudding) and fed the Guru.

“I wish I had a son like you” said the Rani. “Then I am your son” said Guru Sahib Ji, and he would come to visit the Rani who would feed him malai. Amazed by this act of Gobind, the queen heartily embraced Guru Gobind and lovingly fed the Milaii.
King Fateh Singh and his queen’s affectionate for Gobind Singh grew so much that, when Guru Gobind Singh left Patna and shifted to Anandpur Sahib, they could not bear his seperation and fell unconscious. After getting the news from Patna, Guru Gobind visited the king and queen and assured them that he would appear before them whenever they remembered him.
