How to install a 50amp RV Plug Outlet #50amp RV outlet Using a 6/3 wire big enough to power a 50amp plug for your RV. We used 8/3 because its what we had and its rated forabout 40-45 amps, that being said I know we will not use the full power of 50 amps when we are hooked up at Mikes, i think with everything on we were at 42 amps so if it were my home I would ise 6/3 rates for 50 amps
