Wildfire season is underway in Alberta, and it can be a scary time, filled with uncertainty, for those forced to flee their homes.

When people are forced to evacuate their homes, they’re often not given a lot of time to get out. The Alberta government recommends taking enough supplies for a minimum of 72 hours. Some recommended supplies include snacks, critical documents, prescription drugs, first-aid kit, sanitation supplies and cash.

Pet owners should also prepare with items like: pet licences, up-to-date identification, medical and vaccination records, medications for 14 days, pet carrier or crate, food and water for seven to 14 days, extra collar or muzzle, blankets, toys, treats and a recent photo of you and your pet to prove ownership.
