The Independent State of Croatia (NDH) was Croatia during the Second World War. What happened in Croatia during WW2? The Independent State of Croatia (NDH) was established when the German invasion of Yugoslavia was still going on. Led by the Ustaša organization under the leadership of Ante Pavelić the Croatian ultranationalists committed many crimes against Serbian and Jewish people. The German Wehrmacht was stationed in the area and wasn't too keen on the Ustaša violence. Why were the Germans outraged by the Ustasha mass violence in WW2?
