If you somehow don’t know who Kendrick is, he’s one of the most critically acclaimed rappers of all time even being the first rapper ever to win a Pulitzer prize for his 2017 album DAMN. After DAMN’s release Kendrick basically disappeared off the face of the earth to work on his follow up album, Mr Morale and The Big Steppers, that would come out in 2022.

But during this silent period, around a couple songs and recordings from 2019 surfaced throughout 2020 on the now defunct lost media forum leakthis. Out of these songs and demos the one that shone above the rest was the song Prayer.

Unlike most narrative songs Kendrick begins the first verse by rapping from the point of a song. Not just any song though. The entire first verse is from the point of view of the song ABC by the Jackson 5 talking about its most famous creator Michael Jackson...
