Every year, as Winter releases its grip on Glen Charlie Pond, I like to make my first trip up river to the dam at Stump Pond and ride the short stretch of the Agawam River that still exists, back down to the slack water of the dam on Glen Charlie Pond. From the dam on Old Stumpy to Otter rock is a 3/4 - 1 mile section of river that is out of the way of cottages, motorized craft and most signs of civilization.It's a place where eagles soar high above and deer, otters and waterfowl can inhabit relatively undisturbed.
