Directly after William Thacker's first encounter with the superstar Anna Scott, this is a great scene showing the juxtaposition with his everyday life and the reality of Anna's stardom. William is dealing with a completely oblivious customer in his travel book shop, who continues to ask for novels when William has repeatedly explained that they don't sell fiction books but are in fact only sell travel books. Williams loses his patience with the customer when he finally asked for Winnie the Pooh. At this point, William passes the customer off to his trusty store keep, Martin.

At that very minute, William happens to glance out the front window of his travel book shop only to see a full-sized bus promo for Anna's new movie "Helix". This entire clip acts as a foreshadowing of the climactic scene later in the movie when William says, "I live in Notting Hill. You live in Beverly Hills. Everyone in the world knows who you are, my mother has trouble remembering my name." and Anna replies, "I'm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her." Vis a Vis, Williams is a lowly travel bookshop owner dealing with incompetent customers while starring out his front window a huge advertisement for Anna's upcoming video.
