This is my full review for Infinity Ward's "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022)" Single Player Campaign.

Despite an enjoyable beta experience, I walked away from the Single Player campaign disappointed. The game design has regrettably leaned too heavily into new "Warzone" mechanics like armor panels, bad vehicle handling, and stealth mechanics rather than it's far better military combat that the series is best known for - and the end result is a lackluster experience saved only by some decent character moments.

This is not a remake of MW2 (which nobody should have expected considering MW2019 was never a remake of COD4 either), but it also fails to surpass those older games either, paying homage to classic scenes while making them smaller in scale and less ambitious overall.

I had high hopes for this campaign, but ultimately was left with the feeling that this was the least memorable Call of Duty campaign in recent memory, right alongside last years "Vanguard."

The multiplayer will likely be this game's saving grace, as the beta was already very enjoyable. But I hope the inevitably MW3 cranks things up a notch.
