WELCOME to Wandering Scholar, a 20+ years old frequent flyer from Shanghai. To all my subscribers, it is my pleasure to welcome you back !

Today I am flying a business class that does not recline - Finnair’s latest air lounge product from Helsinki to Singapore. Finnair’s network has been decimated in the aftermath of the Russian airspace blockade, with the remaining flights now having to operate with hours long detour. My Helsinki to Singapore flight had to spend an extra three hours in the air overflying most of Europe before making the east bound journey across Eurasia. Finnair’s ground service in Helsinki suffered palpable decline from an extremely limited lounge operating hour to the closure of most concessions. The onboard experience is also diluted with a punitive seat selection policy.
