In 2018, Audi revealed to the world its idea for electrification through the release of the Audi e-Tron SUV. This is not Audi's debut in the world of electric vehicles; that honor belongs to the E-Tron SUV and the fastback E-Tron GT. The Audi e-Tron GT gained a lot of attention in March of this year.

However, this new electrified version of the A6 will be the automaker's first low-slung EV that is predicted to be accessible to conventional purchasers of midsize luxury vehicles.

The details of the car were revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show when Audi unveiled the A6 e-Tron concept, showing how the company's e-Tron philosophy will revolutionize the saloon shape that has come to represent Audi.

However, there is something unique about the Audi A6 e-Tron concept that distinguishes it from simply being the next evolutionary step in Audi's aim to become an all-electric vehicle. This makes it more revolutionary.

The Audi A6 e-Tron concept provides the first look at how this famous Audi body shape will develop for the new era of electric vehicles. It rides on Audi's cutting-edge and extremely adaptable PPE platform, which will serve as the foundation for a wide range of future all-electric vehicles, ranging from low-slung saloons to high-riding SUVs and crossovers.

Not only are the gauges missing, but even the steering wheel is not present. The Grandsphere does have one, but while the idea is in autonomous driving mode, it simply folds up and hides behind a panel made of wood. When you switch to manual mode, it folds out on a stretched arm and the wheel unfolds upright while a simple display that is incorporated into the frame of the device provides a few critical parameters.
