Ocean County - Point Pleasant Beach - Commercial Fishing Boat Aground - Manasquan Inlet - Susan Rose

Just around 5:15 AM Point Pleasant Beach, Police received a call for a washed-up vessel on the sand in Point Beach about 100 yards south of the mouth of the Manasquan Inlet. As I arrived at the same time as Fire Officer Chief 4300 it was clear that a commercial fishing boat had washed ashore. There looked to be 3 people on board two wearing survival suits and one in regular clothing. They didn't seem in imminent distress as the boat rocked in the 4-6ft shore break just south of the entrance to the Inlet. USCG 47 MLB was on the scene as well as 29ft. Point Pleasant Police, Bayhead Police, Mantoloking Police, and Point Pleasant Boro Police as long as New Jersey State Police were dispatched and on scene. Station 42 & 43 along with the Point Pleasant EMS Dive Team. Brick Township B.U.R.T was also dispatched along with Stations 21,22,23. Station 75 Dive Team was also requested to the scene. USCG requested that the fishermen stay on the boat and await a helicopter to come to rescue them. After about 30 minutes the Air asset from USCG was no longer coming, The PPB EMS Dive Team then started to rig a rope from shore to the port side rail where they would try to scale down the rope into the shore break. A line from shore to the boat was established and with rescue swimmers on the shore, they broke 1 after another and started to jump off down into the water about a 15ft drop. Everyone seemed to make the jump without injuries and were loaded into a 4x4 ambulance and taken off the beach. The cause of the crash is still unknown. The boat remains in the same location as of now. Whole rescue was done by 6:30 AM.
