In this video, I'll show you everything you need to know on how to get into medical aesthetics, including how to become an aesthetic nurse, how to apply to aesthetic nursing positions, what aesthetic nursing is actually like, and how to stand out when applying to medical aesthetics job applications.

What is an aesthetic or cosmetic nurse? Aesthetic nurses perform injectables and other skincare and cosmetic focused procedures. This is different from an aesthetician. It is so important to shadow if possible, to see if this is the right field for you.

Depending on the state you are in, the license you need to perform medical aesthetic procedures varies. Most states require a registered nurse license while others may only require an LVN, or some require Nurse Practitioners license.

We briefly discuss the process of getting into nursing school.
Nursing school is a great time to intern, shadow, volunteer, or work as a front staff, medical assistant, or other position at a medical aesthetics facility. You can also work under an MD, PA, or DO in a variety of settings, such as plastic surgery, cosmetic dermatology, and more. In nursing school, you will not learn anything about medical aesthetics or the procedures performed, so training takes place at a facility that can hire you.

It is difficult to get hired without experience. This is why I stress getting a foot in the door any way you can, whether that be volunteering, working, or shadowing. If you can’t get a job without experience, then you can consider taking training courses. It is ideal to get trained as a new grad where you would be hired, but if not, training courses are available at a hefty fee. Taking a training or certification course does not guarantee a job, and someone with experience will be considered over someone who has taken a class, but hasn’t refined or practiced these skills.

Make sure to stand out when interviewing. Make it a point to know everything about the clinic you are interviewing for. Try to pursue a clinic you greatly admire, and tell them why you admire them so much. Then tell them why they need to have you on their team. Think from their point of view and make yourself marketable in showing them what skills you have to offer, whether that be loyalty, passion and dedication, or even being hardworking.

Thank you so much for watching and I hope you got a lot of value out of this video! If you did, please like and subscribe for more content like this :) The whole purpose of this channel is to give you as much value as I can and help inspire a new generation of aesthetic nurses.
