If you have grown accustomed to easily getting a working from home expense deduction you are likely to be disappointed by the 2023 tax return rules. There is no flat rate deduction this year.

If you do work from home, you need to have the T2200 form filled in and signed by your employer before the deduction will be allowed. Your employer has to state on the T2200 form that you were required to work from home. In addition, you had to be working form home for 50% or more of your time for each period you want to claim.

So, people who work from home for 2 days a week are not going to qualify in 2023 for a working from home deduction. If you hope to claim the home expense deduction you should get your employer to sign the T2200 form soon.
