Mayor Rex Richardson and other city leaders joined the The Historical Society of Long Beach for the unveiling of a new exhibit that tells the story of the “Centro de la Raza,” a neighborhood center started in 1969 that helped thousands of economically disadvantaged community members with workforce and housing programs, social and mental services along with helping launch the careers of many Latino leaders right here in Long Beach.

The exhibit also highlights the “Chicano Six,” the founding members of the “Centro de la Raza,” who worked closely with the Historical Society of Long Beach to bring John Taboada’s photographs to light and tell the story of “Centro de la Raza.”
