The Duncan Hines Dolly Parton cake mix is delicious and easy to work with. If you need a banana pudding cake recipe, this is it! We used Dolly Parton's Banana Cake Mix + Dolly Parton's Vanilla Buttercream Frosting to make this cake.

These products were not purchased in the Dolly Parton Cake Mix baking kit. Our grocery stores here near Dolly's hometown of Sevierville, TN are fully stocked with these Duncan Hines products. I purchased the Duncan Hines Dolly Parton Banana Cake Mix and Vanilla Buttercream Frosting at my local store and got to baking.

The ingredients are listed on the back of the cake mix box. The Banana Puddin' Cake recipe is more in depth than a regular cake mix recipe, but it was still easy enough for my 7-year old daughter to complete. She mixed the batter for me using:

This Dolly Parton Banana Cake is made with Jello Banana Cream Pudding Mix, Nabisco Nilla Wafers, and a fresh ripe banana. I can imagine Dolly's mom making her a banana pudding cake. Dolly Parton's Banana Pudding Cake recipe is easy to follow but I made a few tweaks. The folks at Duncan Hines did a good job but for our particular taste, we like moist cake and lots of pudding! I made the cake layers smaller and added an extra layer of pudding, Nilla wafers, and bananas. This made the cake extra moist.

My honest review for Dolly Parton's Banana Pudding Cake is this:

Overall it's good and the recipe is easy, but we love Banana Pudding so much that we wanted more of it to balance out the cake-to-pudding ratio. So, we rearranged the cake and pudding to accommodate our tastes. The ingredients and quantities are exactly the same as what's on the box, they're just arranged a bit differently.

This Banana Pudding Cake looked beautiful, cut clean, and was super yummy! Watch til the end to see how I plated the cake slice.
