Hi :)
This is a quiet carving video showing the skills of Mounting/Embedding, Wet carving, and Engraving.

The avocado seed was fresh and moist at the beginning. After the stone was set and the basic figure was cut, it was left to dry completely for the next process. It took about a week to dry, but the time would differ depending on the humidity in different areas. The seed would shrinks and holds the stone very well after it dries.
To mount a stone (or anything) in an avocado seed, it's crucial to dig a pit that is slightly bigger than the size of the stone which is going to be embedded because of the shrinkage. The opening of the pit could be smaller than the stone in order to keep the stone inside. But the space inside the pit which is most of the stone would be embedded in, should be bigger than the stone to avoid cracking after the seed shrinks.
However, it's hard to know the water content in every seed and how much they would shrink. Better be prepared for some cracks to appear around the surface and remove them after the seed is completely dry.

I applied 3 layers of Tung oil to finish this work. It usually takes about 8-12 hours to dry a layer, but it also depends on the humidity in the area. I waited 3 days just for the oil to dry and to film the final footage because the weather wasn’t nice during those days...
Luckily I got a bit of sunshine when applying oil for the last time and the coating dried within 5 hours under the mild sunshine.

In case you might be wondering.. This purple stone is not a gemstone, just a piece of broken glass stone. I'm not sure how to get ethical gemstones except recycled ones. Therefore, I prefer to use what I already have and the recycled materials.
