After six months of war and destruction, the Gaza Strip is unrecognizable. Entire neighborhoods have been razed to the ground, leaving only debris and corpses.

To quantify the extent of the damage, Le Monde used analysis carried out by UNOSAT, the United Nations (UN) satellite agency. Based on high-quality satellite images, their work tracks the condition of buildings in the Gaza Strip. Le Monde verified and supplemented the UN data, and we found that 60% of the Palestinian enclave's healthcare buildings, schools, universities and religious buildings have been damaged or destroyed since October 7.
