Leaden skies accompanied the 2023 Anything Goes evening car meet, organised as ever by the Whitchurch Motor Club. Despite the ever-present likelihood of rain spoiling the fun, a varied mix of interesting old and not-so-old vehicles ventured out to gather in a field close to the Shropshire/Cheshire border in Malpas, including ourselves in our aged 1956 Standard 8.
The turnout for Anything Goes 2023 was impressive, if perhaps not quite as large as in 2022 (link to that video at the end of this one), the gloomy forecast no doubt putting off a few people from venturing out. The sun did, in the end, make several appearances, so the weather could have been a lot worse.
In this Anything Goes video we head over in the Standard, video some of the car arrivals, take several walkarounds of the classic cars and other vehicles that turned up to this Whitchurch Motor Club event, then round things off with a few classic car departures. As this is primarily a channel about classic cars and other pensionable vehicles, they are the main focus of this video although I've tried to at least give an overall view of the broad mix of attendees at this year's Anything Goes car meet, including some moderns.
Highlights for us this year include a gaggle of bubble cars (Isetta and Heinkels), a Wolseley 4/44, Ford E83W pickup, various Escorts, a Rover P6 Police car, Lotus Elan Sprint, and a cheerfully yellow Hillman Avenger.
We get to quite a few classic car shows and meets throughout the year, and the popularity of evening and morning meets seems to be increasing, with more and more to choose from. Please take a look at the rest of the channel to see what I mean. Likes, subs and comments welcomed as always.
