I love ECM and the quality of the coffee machines that they manufacture. I would get myself a Mechanika or Synchronika any day of the week, but when it comes to pure espresso, the jury is still out for me on if the Puristika is the best option.

The quality of ECM is there and I love that they went for the smallest footprint possible, however, by removing the water tank from inside the chassis and placing it on the bench, I'm not sure they made the right decision.

I may be wrong but most people who want a small coffee machine don't want to also have a large glass water tank that they have to find a place for. I know, you can just buy longer hoses and that way you could put the reservoir under the counter (if you had room and a way to feed the hoses down there neatly). But why not just keep the tank inside the chassis and have it all neat and tidy at the expense of a few extra inches in each direction.

The water tank issue is only one of the issues for me, the bigger concern is the lack of pressure profiling on a machine that has supposedly focused all its attention on the espresso purist who only wants to play with black coffee. There is an OPV that is featured on the front of the machine so you can adjust pressures, however, you can't use this during an extraction - only before or after. This severely limits the options you can use pressure for and since you can't make milk on it, there's not much else that features on this machine.

I must be missing something and I want someone who has purchased it to tell me how wrong I am if this is indeed the endgame for espresso purists.
