Bangalore Hunts is a furniture store in Bangalore and they just moved to a new location. When I toured the property first I realized that this particular wall is completely clad in plywood to hide the stone wall. While I would have loved the look of the stone wall, it made practical sense to not get rid of the plywood coz it would serve as a display for the hundreds of small mirrors they had for sale.
I needed the gallery to pop, so I got the wall painted grey. When you are doing a gallery this size, there is no way you can plan the position of each piece beforehand. The only thing I had to decide was what would be the first piece to go up.
I chose the gold-painted mirror to be my centerpiece, which I mounted at eye level and built the gallery around it. Once the first piece went up, it was just a matter of going through a hundred mirrors and choosing what I wanted next, one by one.
It looked easy enough, but the process was exhausting. I think I managed to get about a hundred mirrors on the wall, this is just phase one. I plan to fill this entire wall with mirrors and small wall-mounted decorations.
And since this was a plywood wall, I was able to drive the screws directly into them with a cordless drill.
