Edwin Kurgat of Under Armour Dark Sky Distance put on a surge over the final laps to take down indoor 3k American record holder Yared Nuguse in the Scarlet Heat of the men's 5k at the 2024 John Thomas Terrier Classic.

Kurgat clocked 12:57.52 for the win while Nuguse took third and hit the Olympic Standard with a time of 13:02.09.
