If you filed your income taxes close to the April 18 deadline, you may still be waiting on your tax return. But would the IRS ask for your personal information? One man wrote into VERIFY asking if it was legit that the IRS would send him a letter in the mail asking him to create an account at ID.com and submit photos of his driver's license.

In this video, VERIFY reporter Meghan Bragg speaks with tax experts about this process and explains why it is a legitimate request from the IRS for those who filed income taxes and are still waiting on their federal income tax return.
