Within our current lifetimes, every person on this planet will have the ability to cure incurable disease from the comfort of their own living room. In this TEDx talk, Laurence Liang explores how recent technological developments bring us to the cusp of a bioinformatics revolution, and how everyone can be a part of a global mission to eradicate disease. This talk was filmed and edited by TVM, Student Television at McGill.

Laurence Liang is a software developer and an engineering student at McGill University. Starting as a self-taught programmer at 14 years old, Laurence used software and artificial intelligence to model genomic interactions in neuron regeneration, and more recently, to identify non-coding genes that could halt the progression of COVID-19. His work has been recognized on multiple platforms, such as the Canada-Wide Science Fair, Sanofi Biogenius, and Regeneron ISEF. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
