The practice of Antar Darshan follows the practice of Antar Mouna. In Antar Mouna, Inner Silence we observe the thoughts by going through the six stages. Antar mouna is a technique of attaining pratyahara: withdrawal of the mind from the sense objects. This is the fifth stage of raja yoga and in its fullest form can lead to dharana and dhyana.
Antar means 'inner', darshan means 'to have the vision of inner being'. This inner being, the little guy within each one of us, relates to the world through feelings. We simply move from sensorial awareness to awareness of emotions and the ability to actually stop them, to generating emotions and then again stopping them. In this way we learn how to remain free from the influences of emotions.
